Artist's Description
Palm lined pristine white sands of the uninhabited Saona Island located off the south-east coast in Dominican Republic's La Altagracia province. It is a government-protected nature reserve and part of a national park - Parque Nacional Cotubanamá.
The island is a popular destination for tourists on organized excursions every day. It is known for its beaches, and has been used on a number of occasions by filmmakers and advertisers looking for a stereotypical "deserted island" setting for their film or product.
About Shirley Mitchell
Every photograph is a unique moment in time, never to be repeated. I live in the beautiful county of Surrey in England where the scenery, the lighting and the change of seasons can only be described as inspirational. What started as a hobby many years ago has developed into an obsession leading me to take photographic courses and trying to improve my skills. Being out and about with my camera is perhaps one of my greatest joys. My interests are varied but I get the biggest buzz from flowers, landscapes and architecture. I sincerely hope that I am able to share my enthusiasm by sharing my images.

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
